ABOUT

Cecca Morrone is a Hawaii-based artist. She was raised in Nagoya, Japan, a short distance from Seto, an ancient center of pottery making where her fascination with ceramics began. She apprenticed for three years under a 5th generation potter in Akatsu, a ceramics village in the Seto area. She went on to compete her formal training at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where she worked in a wide variety of media and materials, an experience that continues to inform her practice. Hawaii has always been her second home. She grew up spending her holidays in Hawaii and has lived in the islands full time since 2013. Cecca's work is shaped by her Japanese cultural and artistic heritage coupled with with her love of Hawaii's scenic beauty, especially the wild and rocky landscapes of the Big Island.
